Head High - Young People Living Beyond Suicide aims to prevent youth suicide. In 2003 a group of young people who had lost loved ones to suicide established a support group specifically for young people bereaved by suicide. Today this group continues to offer essential face to face support to young bereaved people. However, the founding members are now young adults and wish to share what they have learned with other young people and groups. Headhigh is a partnership with the business community to develop a nation wide, web based support and resource for young people (and groups working with young people) bereaved by suicide.

The inaugural National Suicide Post Vention Conference May 24-26 2007

At the inaugural National Suicide Post Vention Conference a number of groups across the nation came together to put forward a national strategy to develop support groups for young people bereaved by suicide and endorsed www.headhigh.org.au as a first step in that direction.

Head High is currently forming a national reference group that will support the development of www.headhigh.org.au to:

• Support the establishment of best practice young peoples support groups
• Explore virtual mechanisms for support
• Provide a virtual gateway for supporting bereaved young people, including;
  • A virtual facilitators community, adhering to the upcoming national practice standards and supporting each other with ideas, feedback and resources.
